Shipment Sharing

TVA provides the ability to easily share real-time Shipment information with outside parties, if the account is configured to support it. The sharing process is available to those with proper access in Shipment management, and provides a summary view of Shipment position, status, and details.

The sharing function for Shipments is available under the action menu when viewing the details of a particular shipment, which in turn opens a window to create new sharing links, or to access previously created links.

A Shipment Share link does not provide full access to a Shipment, nor does it provide any mechanism for an external user to update information in the system. A share provides a summary of the current status, including general Shipment metadata and position, but does not show detailed records, system activities, and other information.

Shipment share links are created using a complex process, ensuring that links are secure and meet the configured size and complexity requirements. In addition, a share link may be configured to require a password to access, which is randomly generated at the share creation time. Finally a share link may be set to automatically expire and become invalid after a set period.

A tenant administrator may tune the security and link settings within the system, adjusting the permissions required to create a share link, the size of link tokens and passwords, set a maximum duration for share links, and even require all links to have a password generated.

An example share link management interface, on a Shipment details page, is shown below.

In this example, there are two links that have already been created. Although neither have a title defined one has a password and one does not. The link share token is presented, and a user simply needs to click on either the token or password to copy the full value to the browser clipboard.

On the right side of the screen, a new share link may be created, if the user has permission, and this will automatically be added to the list and available to use.

Note, TVA protects against brute force and other types of attacks on all resources, and share links are no exception. External parties attempting to guess links or passwords are rapidly blocked, and audit log entries, alerts, and other activities are generated and processed in the system. In the event that an adversary attempts to gain access to shared material, they are rapidly identified and blocked.

Shared links are an effective way to share real-time information with partners, customers, and other individuals. With the tracking, auditing, and logging of link creation, use, and deletion, account administrators can ensure the security and integrity of the sharing process.
