Introduction to Places
Within TVA, the Places menu gives access to manage various functions to provide functional details, context, and other information to places on the ground. These places may be large regions spanning a broad complex, specific buildings, or subsections of a building.
Within the module, there are four different data types that can be managed.
- Place - A place is a general area to be managed, which can be drawn out as a polygon or marked as a point with an area around.
- Building - A building is located within a place, and generally will encompass a singular building at a particular location.
- Area - An area is a subdivision of a building, useful for marking areas for storing, processing, or otherwise working with material, shipments, and other items.
- Markers - A marker is a useful way to indicate something of interest on the map, often for a short term, and to share this context to other team members.
Together, the places module enables geospatial automation to trigger alerts, workflows, and other processes, and to aid in automated accountability for material in supply chain and asset management functions.
